New Research on Enhancing Aging Eggs
The Aging Female Egg
Researchers out of Princeton University have stumbled upon a protein that seems to play a role in the aging of female eggs. So far they have only tested it in animal studies – but both worms (yes, worms and humans share an uncommon number of genes) and cows they should that blocking the C. elegans protein was associated with what would be 3 to 6 year extension in a human reproductive period. Furthermore, the protein wouldn’t have to be blocked early in a women’s reproductive cycle but could be blocked in the thirties when a woman’s reproductive cycle begins to decline. The drug used is called cache-sin B inhibitor and is still a few years out for treatment on humans but it is on the horizon.
